How is auger-filler accuracy established?

A buyer-focused method for testing, recording and comparing powder-filling results.

Direct answer

Auger-filler accuracy is established by a defined test, not by an isolated percentage.

A defensible accuracy statement identifies the powder, batch condition, target fill, tooling, hopper state, weighing method, result sequence and operating events. Individual results should be retained across start-up, stable production, refill, stoppage and restart so variation is not hidden inside an average.

Because auger dosing controls volume, changes in powder density and screw charging can change mass even when the programmed movement is repeated correctly.

Evidence rule

State the conditions, show the sequence and keep the exceptional fills in the record.

Accuracy record

What a useful result set should contain.

  • Product and batch identity, including loose and settled bulk density where available
  • Target fill, pack tare method and check-scale identification
  • Auger, tube, outlet and recipe identity
  • Hopper level, refill events and time since refill
  • Start-up, stable run, planned pause and restart markers
  • Every individual result, not only the mean
  • Acceptance rule agreed before the trial

Why is an average fill weight not enough?

An average can conceal alternating high and low fills, drift through the run, first-fill errors and changes after refill or stoppage. Buyers need the individual sequence and the associated events to understand repeatability and whether the process remains within the agreed acceptance limits.

Report the denominator and method whenever a percentage or tolerance is stated.

How do bulk density, hopper level and restarts affect results?

Bulk density changes the mass contained in each controlled volume. Hopper level and agitation can change how the screw charges, while a pause can let powder settle, compact or move towards the outlet. These conditions should be treated as test variables rather than unexplained noise.

Mark refill and restart events directly against the result sequence.

What evidence should an auger-filler FAT record?

Factory acceptance testing should record the agreed supplied scope, product and pack samples, tooling, settings, weighing method, result sequence, line interfaces, alarms, guarding checks and any open actions. The exact test must be agreed for the project and does not replace site acceptance.

Use the powder sample-trial and FAT guide to define the plan.

Volumetric-only dosing.

A programmed auger movement can repeat a volume accurately, but the corresponding mass depends on powder presentation. Trial the production conditions that can change density or screw charging.

Weight-assisted dosing.

Weight feedback can support bulk-and-fine filling or routine correction, but the scale, tare, pack support and transfer method become part of the measured process.
