Installation guide

Auger filler installation and site preparation.

Plan access, utilities, extraction, layout, controls, product availability, commissioning and operator handover before an auger filling machine arrives.

Access and layoutUtilitiesExtractionCommissioning
Before delivery

Prepare the operating envelope, not only the machine footprint.

The layout must allow safe unloading, positioning, production access, tooling removal, cleaning, extraction ducting and maintenance. A drawing that shows only the chassis can underestimate the real space required.

  • Delivery route, doors, turns, floor levels and lifting method
  • Machine, conveyor, feeder, operator and maintenance envelope
  • Electricity, compressed air where required and isolators
  • Dust extraction, waste handling and cleaning access
  • Network or control interfaces where included
Do not assume

Utilities and dimensions can vary by final build. Confirm the approved general arrangement, electrical documentation and utility schedule before preparing permanent services.

Site-readiness matrix

Inputs to confirm before the engineer attends.

Auger filler installation readiness
AreaSite preparationEvidence before attendance
Access and handlingClear unloading route, suitable forklift/pallet truck or agreed lifting plan, no unassessed stairs or restricted turns.Route dimensions, photographs and named unloading responsibility.
Floor and locationLevel, suitable floor with drainage or hygiene details where relevant; space for guards, doors and cleaning.Approved layout and equipment orientation.
Electrical supplyCorrect voltage, phase, frequency, isolator, earthing and protective device to the final documentation.Electrical schedule and competent installer confirmation.
Compressed airCorrect pressure, quality, flow and local isolation where pneumatic functions are included.Utility point and measured supply; omit if the final machine does not require air.
ExtractionCapture connection, airflow duty, discharge/filtration and safe treatment of the actual powder.Extraction design and product risk assessment; do not rely on a vacuum cleaner not specified for the duty.
Product and packsSufficient representative powder and every approved pack format available for commissioning.Samples, target weights, tolerances and production labels/closures where needed.
People and proceduresNominated operators and maintenance staff, PPE, cleaning materials and approved SOPs.Training attendance and handover responsibility.
Commissioning sequence

Move from mechanical checks to an accepted production recipe.

01

Position and inspect

Confirm transit condition, location, levelling, guards and access.

02

Connect utilities

Use competent personnel and the final electrical, pneumatic and extraction documentation.

03

Dry function test

Verify controls, sensors, alarms, interlocks, emergency stops and manual functions.

04

Product setup

Fit the approved tooling, establish hopper feed and create the first controlled recipe.

05

Production checks

Run the agreed weight sequence, output condition, pack handling and downstream interfaces.

06

Train and hand over

Cover operation, cleaning, changeover, sampling, routine checks and fault escalation.

Plan controls at the line boundaries.

For automatic systems, define machine-ready, run-permit, fault, accumulation and emergency-stop interfaces between filler, conveyor, capper, sealer, labeller, coder and inspection equipment. Agree who supplies each cable, sensor and control change.

Bring the acceptance plan to site.

Repeat the site-dependent checks identified at FAT and retain the settings, results, training record and open actions. Use the trial and FAT guide to maintain one evidence trail.

Installation planning

Send the layout and utility constraints before order.

Lancing can review access, position, extraction, services and line interfaces before the final equipment arrangement is released.
